We are excited to announce our new Master course all about the Metaverse, which will be held by Prof. Stefan Seidel and Christian Hovestadt in the summer term 2025. The lecture introduces the history and foundations of the Metaverse, explores key technical foundations and artifacts (architectures, standards, digital assets, digital agents, etc.) and their interplay, and explores how these enable new business models. In the exercise sessions, students will get familiar with Metaverse applications, the navigation of Metaverse platforms, and will gain hands-on experience in content creation and basic development techniques.

Resulting Changes in the Module Structure

The new course will be an elective course in the module “SM Information Systems III”. Starting in the winter term, the course “Decision Making under Uncertainty” will move from the “SM Information Systems III” to “SM Information Systems II”. The course “IT Entrepeneurship”, which was an elective course in “SM Information Systems II”, will no longer be offered.
