Application Process

Bachelor Theses at the Cologne Institute for Information Systems are assigned in a centralized process with fixed starting dates.

Attention: The process changes slightly.

  1. You register for the bachelor thesis course “Bachelorarbeit am Cologne Institute for Information Systems (CIIS)”. This registration takes place via KLIPS2 in the first registration phase.
  2. In the corresponding ILIAS course, we will publish a list of thesis topics, for which you can submit preferences.
  3. In the corresponding ILIAS course, we setup a survey where you must prioritize topics / supervisors. Usually, this takes place 7 days prior to the first week of lectures. Please make sure to set priorities for options, otherwise you may not receive a place for the bachelor thesis at all. There is no assignment of leftover places.
  4. You are assigned to a supervisor. Usually, this takes place in the first week of lectures via ILIAS.
  5. You set up a kick-off meeting with your supervisor.

Flipped Classroom: Scientific Work

Completion of the “Flipped Classroom: Scientific Work” is a requirement before you can start your bachelor thesis. Usually, you should have already completed this in your bachelor seminar. In the ILIAS course, you can also find relevant organizational information, including templates.
