Application Process

Bachelor Theses at the Cologne Institute for Information Systems are assigned in a centralized process with fixed starting dates.

  1. You register for the bachelor thesis at all six chairs and assign priorities for each chair. This registration takes place via KLIPS2 in the first registration phase. You are assigned to a chair via KLIPS2 after the registration phase is over. Please make sure to set priorities for all of the six chairs, otherwise you may not receive a place for the bachelor thesis at all. Here you can find a tutorial on how to assign priorities in KLIPS2: German, English. There is no assignment of leftover places.
  2. Your assigned chair will publish a list of thesis topics, for which you can submit preferences. Usually, this takes place in the first week of lectures via ILIAS. At the same time, you are also assigned to a supervisor.
  3. You set up a kick-off meeting with your supervisor.

Flipped Classroom: Scientific Work

Completion of the “Flipped Classroom: Scientific Work” is a requirement before you can start your bachelor thesis. Usually, you should have already completed this in your bachelor seminar. In the ILIAS course, you can also find relevant organizational information, including templates.
